‘You’re not supposed to like’ Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs

He also says understands why quarterbacks get so much protection: “Those guys gets a lot of sponsors. A lot of those guys are good-looking guys.”

For about a week now, Terrell Suggs has been hearing complaints about how dirty a player he is -- and it doesn't bother him at all.

"You're naturally the villain when you go into an opponent's stadium, anyway," Suggs said, according to ESPN. "You might as well not shy away from it. You might as well bask in it and enjoy it. I'm not supposed to be the opponent's favorite player. You're not supposed to like me. I don't play for you. I represent Ravens Nation. I just enjoy it."

Suggs has been labeled a dirty player before -- most notably by then-Steelers running back LeGarrette Blount in November. His reputation has been under further scrutiny since Saturday, when he hit Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford below the knees. It was Bradford's first game back since undergoing knee surgery last year and he and his teammates felt the tackle was a dirty one.

"He was trying to take a cheap shot at the quarterback," Eagles left tackle Jason Peters said then, via the Baltimore Sun. "I'm pretty sure he planned it. I mean, we've practiced against them all week, so he was probably thinking about it."

But Suggs expressed little remorse, instead pointing out that on the play Bradford was outside the pocket where the rules protecting a quarterback no longer apply.

This is not the first time that Suggs has complained about all the protection quarterbacks receive. This week Suggs did at least add that he understands why those rules exist.
