The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to place center Maurkice Pouncey on the injured reserve list with a designation to return, according to the team's official website. He would be forced to sit out at least six weeks, although a more logical return date isn't until at least Week 12.
Maurkice Pouncey likely to miss first 10 games with broken leg
Pouncey suffered a broken fibula in preseason, but he will likely return later in the year.
According to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the recovery for Pouncey is expected to be about three months, so he likely won't be in uniform until after the team's Week 11 bye. That means a possible return date could be a Week 12 game against the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 29.
Pouncey suffered a broken fibula in a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers and had surgery to repair the damage. Steelers head coach declined to provide more details about a timetable until after the initial recovery from the procedure.
The four-time Pro Bowl center missed almost the entire 2013 season after suffering ACL and MCL tears in Week 1, but that's the only season of his five-year career that didn't end with Pro Bowl honors. He'll be replaced in the lineup by veteran Cody Wallace, who has six starts for the Steelers over the last two seasons.
