On the 10-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the Saints will play football at the Superdome. The Houston Texans will travel to New Orleans Sunday afternoon, and all eyes will be on newly minted starting quarterback Brian Hoyer.
Texans vs. Saints 2015 live stream: Start time, TV schedule and how to watch online
Brian Hoyer looks to impress in his first game as the Texans’ starter, and the Saints’ first unit aims to pick up where it left off last week against the Patriots.
Head coach Bill O'Brien named the veteran the starter Monday, but also mentioned the decision isn't permanent. That didn't stop Ryan Mallett from expressing his displeasure to the media about the decision, however.
In addition to getting an extended look at Hoyer, the Texans will also probably try to hone in on a replacement for injured running back Arian Foster. So far, the leading candidate is seemingly former sixth-round Alfred Blue, who gained 10 yards on four carries against the Broncos last week.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees is probably thankful that Jadeveon Clowney won't play Saturday, as he continues to work his way back from microfracture surgery. The Texans continue to take a cautious approach with star defensive end J.J. Watt, as well.
With Clowney and likely Watt out of the mix, Brees could have a big night for the Saints. He went 8 of 10 for 159 yards and two touchdown passes in New Orleans' 26-24 loss to the Patriots last Saturday. Wide receiver Brandin Cooks impressed with four catches for 117 yards and a touchdown.
The Saints' first-unit defense will look to continue its momentum from last week, when it didn't allow the Patriots to gain a single first down in the first three series. It was a nice rebound performance from Week 1 of the preseason against the Ravens, in which the defense surrendered 148 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter.
