DeSean Jackson injures shoulder after running into blocking sled

Jackson’s shoulder injury is expected to keep him out “a few weeks.”

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Washington wide receiver DeSean Jackson sustained a shoulder injury after running into a blocking sled, according to Carol Maloney of NBC Washington. On the first play of the one-on-one session on Thursday, Jackson appeared to hit his right shoulder against a sled that was parked behind the end zone.

Jackson has a grade 2 separated shoulder and is expected to miss “a few weeks,” according to Dianna Marie Russini of ESPN. Jackson stayed down on the field briefly, and then spent the rest of the practice session on the sidelines.

Washington expects big things out of Jackson this season, as does the wide receiver himself. He caught 56 passes for 1,169 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games with Washington last season.

"I don't feel no one could stop me," Jackson said to the media on Monday, "You could go get Darrelle Revis, Richard Sherman, whoever you want to get."

If those guys are lining up for a shot at Jackson, they’ll have to wait until he’s cleared to get back onto the practice field. Thankfully for him, he likely wouldn’t have stuck around at practice if the injury was truly serious, though Washington may play it safe and keep him out for the early going of training camp.
