Hats off to Seattle Seahawks rookie Tyler Lockett. The third-round pick out of Kansas State made the special teams play of the day so far with his 57-yard punt return.
Tyler Lockett scores Seahawks’ first punt return TD since 2007
As a Rams fan, it was yet another one on the list of amazing highlights to come at the Rams’ expense. Let’s go back through the sequence that led to Lockett’s punt return.
Okay, so Tavon Austin is a running back again, something the last offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was roundly and rightly criticized for since the Rams traded UP to the eighth pick in the 2013 NFL Draft to get Austin. And here we go ...
The Rams offense in fine form under Jeff Fisher. Yes, Tavon ran BACKWARDS.
Then the Rams, on third-and-21, called for a QB sneak. Ostensibly to get their punter just a little more room to work. Also, Jeff Fisher LOL.
Okay, whatever. Confusing, futile play calling, it’s really nothing new for this coach or this team.
What really puts it all together is Tyler Lockett returning the punt 57 yards for a touchdown. Of course, Lockett’s touchdown is already the most exciting play of the day, ensuring its place in the highlight reels all week ... maybe all season.
DRIVE THE NAIL IN DEEPER.
