The Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Giants with a last-minute game-winning drive to cap a weird opening Sunday of the 2015 NFL season. Marcus Mariota threw four touchdown passes and finished with a perfect passer rating. On the other side of the spectrum, Ravens WR Steve Smith had a potential game-winning touchdown pass bounce off his facemask.
Vikings fan celebrates 49ers touchdown

Often the allure of fame can cause one to completely abandon his or her morals and beliefs. For instance, the idea of being on TV is way more exciting than the idea of standing by your team who has had a pretty rough game.
This Vikings fan knows what I’m talking about. He sprinted down from several rows away to celebrate a Carlos Hyde touchdown. Carlos Hyde does not play for the Vikings, but being famous for a few second knows no team allegiances.

Julio Jones had a big game against the Eagles, hauling in 9 passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Byron Maxwell probably knew Jones had a big game against him, but he didn’t know exactly how big.
Sounds like Maxwell is just as impressed with Julio’s numbers as everyone watching was.

Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty ImagesAn awesome Billboard interview with the Falcons and Seahawks team DJs provided some interesting insight as to what NFL players like to listen to during practices and workouts. The most interesting tidbit, however, was the bit the Seahawks DJ shared about Future.
Sorry, Seahawks players, your quarterback is making it impossible for you to listen to Future during practice. At least he’s a good quarterback!

Russell Westbrook is known for having an interesting sense of fashion, so giving him a chance to design his own collection was always going to end in interesting results.
You can see the rest of the collection here, much like you can see the entirety of that man’s nipples under his shirt in the picture above. So, uh, if you’re looking for a shirt that doesn’t really count and basically defeats the purpose of wearing a shirt, Russell Westbrook is the guy to talk to.

UPDATE: It turns out Eli Manning is taking the blame and said he -- not the Giants sideline -- told Jennings not to score. That was a really bad decision by Manning. The Giants’ coaches are off the hook for now, but they still made a lot of other dumb decisions against Dallas.
Last night we thoroughly examined the stupid decisions the Giants made as they turned a near-certain win into a loss to the Cowboys. On third-and-1, quarterback Eli Manning opted to throw a ball away when he could’ve cut the amount of time the Cowboys had to score in half. Then the Giants kicked a field goal at the 1-yard line, a move that essentially gave the Cowboys the ball 30 yards further downfield without changing the fact that a TD would lose the game for the Giants. Of course, the Cowboys scored a TD and won.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY SportsAccording to Adam Schefter of ESPN, it’s a strain for Jackson that will keep him out of action for three-four weeks.
Jackson, the team’s top deep threat and No. 1 receiver, was going for a deep ball when he got hurt. He’s also a kick returner, and Washington will sorely miss him as the offense tries to get back on track. Jackson had 56 receptions for 1,169 yards and six touchdowns catching passes from three different quarterbacks last season.

Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY SportsCromartie underwent tests on Monday to determine the extent of the injury. This is quite a bit better news than originally expected. As you can see below, former Chargers team doctor David Chao posted a vine of the play and speculated at a diagnosis that would put Cromartie out for the season:
“Non-contact, knee hyperextension away from ball. Fear on Antonio Cromartie dreaded 3 letters, starts with A.”

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY SportsDallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant reportedly suffered a broken foot during Sunday night’s 27-26 win over the New York Giants, and could be sidelined for up to six weeks.
“We want to be careful about making the entire judgment on it but Dez did break a bone,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said in his postgame press conference, according to Pro Football Talk. “We anticipate him having surgery. The initial diagnosis is he’ll be out 4-6 weeks.”

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY SportsAfter the game, Manning didn’t feel particularly chatty when reporters talked to him after the game in the locker room. Via Mark Kiszla of the Denver Post:
Manning, 39, was sacked four times on Sunday, hit six times and none of his 24 completions were over 20 yards. While it is far from the best way to start the year, the Ravens finished 2014 No. 6 in scoring defense and racked up the second-most sacks in the NFL with 49.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY SportsShortly after the win, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross marveled at the amount of fans the team had in the crowd at FedEx Field, despite being about 1,000 miles from Miami. He told the Washington Post in the Dolphins’ locker room that he “felt it was almost a home game.”
The announced attendance for the game was 76,512, which was well above the league average for the first week, but shy of FedEx Field’s capacity of 82,000. A significant amount of that attendance appeared to be visiting fans, though:

The Seahawks set out on Sunday to exorcise their Super Bowl demons, but another bizarre play-call once again helped lead directly to their defeat. Or did it?

WAIT, WHAT DID THE GIANTS DO? The Giants snatched defeated from the jaws of victory with a series of incredibly dumb decisions near the goal line that ultimately gifted Tony Romo and the Cowboys a chance for a game-winning drive. And somehow, that wasn’t the weirdest way an NFL team lost on Sunday.
WAIT, WHAT DID PETE CARROLL DO? The end of Seahawks-Rams may ultimately be the weirdest of the 2015 season. The Seahawks seemingly opened overtime with an onside kick, which the Rams recovered to give themselves great field position. Then the refs gave the ball back to the Seahawks for a re-kick because of an obscure rule, then overturned that obscure ruling. Pete Carroll then denied that the Seahawks were even trying to kick an onside kick at all even though it really looked like they were, and blamed kicker Steven Hauschka for essentially going rogue.

The big story from the early Sunday slate of games was the Buffalo Bills and quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who scored a huge upset over Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts were favored by 2.5 points prior to kickoff, but the Bills won that game 27-14. Indianapolis scored 14 points in the second half and was driving late when Luck threw his second interception of the day, this one with less than two minutes to play.
Chicago was keeping things interesting against the Packers until Jay Cutler threw a back-breaking interception that Green Bay used to grab a 24-16 lead in the fourth quarter, adding another touchdown before the game ended. The Dolphins came back from a three-point deficit as Washington fell apart in the second half.

Well done, Rams. And of course, the rest of the internet was there too:
After the game, Wilson clarified some on Twitter, saying it’s Seattle’s goal to go 1-0 every week. He’s tweeted the same thing a number of times throughout his career and it was less of a prediction and more of a mentality. That didn’t keep the Rams and their fans from enjoying it. Wide receiver Benny Cunningham may have been referencing Wilson as he shouted “retweet that!” after the game:

The New York Giants just lost to the Dallas Cowboys. This in and of itself isn’t particularly notable: they’ve now lost five straight matchups to Dallas over the span of three years -- or 1,050 days, if you’re counting. It’s the way they lost it this time that has people talking.
The Giants used great red zone defense and huge turnovers to take a 10-point lead on the Cowboys in spite of big disparities in total yardage and time of possession. They led, 23-20, with under two minutes to go, and were driving the ball to the doorstep of Dallas’ end zone.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones once called Tony Romo the best quarterback in the NFL in the fourth quarter. Romo’s career has made that debatable at times, but Romo made Jones look like a prophet on Sunday, leading the Cowboys on a methodical game-winning drive against the New York Giants.
Dallas took over trailing, 26-20, with just 1:29 to play and no time outs. They needed to drive 72 yards to win the game and do it quickly. That was no problem for Romo who completed 5 of 6 passes on the drive, hitting Jason Witten for the game-winning touchdown.

At 35 years old and coming off multiple serious injuries, Tony Romo is not the most athletic quarterback in the NFL. He’s very good at throwing a football, but when he has to do other things, he can come out looking a little foolish.
Like when he tries to make a tackle in the open field.
