Terrell Suggs tears Achilles against Broncos and is out for the season

The Ravens outside linebacker had to be carted to the locker room after going down with an injury in Denver on Sunday.

Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs left Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos with an Achilles injury and will be out for the season, the team announced via Twitter.

Suggs left the game with what appeared to be a foot injury, and after getting looked at on the sidelines he was taken to the locker room on a cart. Further medical examination led to the announcement of the season-ending injury.

Suggs is a starter at left outside linebacker and has been a leader on the Ravens since they drafted him in the first round back in 2003. He’s been consistently dominant throughout his career, and has played all 16 games in a season 10 times. Last year, he had 61 combined tackles with 12.0 sacks and a fumble recovery. For his career, he has 106.5 sacks and 25 forced fumbles, with seven interceptions as a bonus.

Za'Darius Smith was listed as Suggs' backup on the left side, but he was inactive for Sunday's game. That left Suggs, Courtney Upshaw and Elvis Dumervil as the only outside linebackers active.
