The first Monday Night Football game of the season should have no shortage of offensive fireworks when the Atlanta Falcons host the Philadelphia Eagles. Both teams are expected to pile up the points, with electric offenses and shoddy defenses. If all goes right, the ultimate winner will be you, the football fan.
Eagles vs. Falcons 2015 picks and predictions: Philadelphia a strong favorite on the road
Many experts like the Eagles’ chances of knocking off Atlanta at the Georgia Dome.
Chip Kelly’s wild ride took many twists and turns through the offseason and ended with Sam Bradford as his new quarterback. He also traded LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills and signed DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews. It’s been a roller coaster, but if preseason results are anything to go by, Kelly’s offense could be flying high in 2015.
The Falcons are starting over with a new coaching staff, replacing Mike Smith with Dan Quinn and hiring Kyle Shanahan as offensive coordinator. Quinn is a strong defensive mind who helped build the Legion of Boom in Seattle, while Shanahan follows in his father’s footsteps with the famous zone running game. They will be hoping that Tevin Coleman is a big upgrade over Steven Jackson and give the running game a boost, taking some pressure off Matt Ryan and Julio Jones.
Most NFL experts expect the Eagles to pick up the road victory. Eleven pundits at ESPN are picking Philadelphia, with just three people going with the Falcons. Over at CBS Sports, it’s nearly a clean sweep, with John Breech being the only one brave enough to pick Atlanta. Our own experts at SB Nation have a few more Falcons picks, but it’s still a majority vote for Philly.
