The Giants left people with a lot of questions following Sunday night’s fourth quarter collapse against the Dallas Cowboys. New York marched down the field with under two minutes left while holding a three-point lead, but the Giants intentionally decided not to score a touchdown thinking Dallas only had one time out left. Rashad Jennings instead ran into the line and was brought down on consecutive plays. New York settled for a field goal, which allowed Dallas just enough time to pull off the game-winning drive.
Eli Manning, not Tom Coughlin, told Rashad Jennings not to score
The Giants lost to the Cowboys in the first Sunday night matchup of the season, but there was some confusion on the play calling.

The move was widely criticized, especially during the post-game press conference when Jennings said he was told not to score. Manning provided some additional insight into where things went wrong on Monday afternoon.
“I thought they only had one timeout after the play to Odell, so they might let us score to get the ball back. So I told Rashad, go down at the one-inch line and don’t score. This did not come from the sideline. I cannot be the one to inform a back. That’s not my decision, to do that in that scenario. I made that mistake. And then on third down, not taking the sack there. I’ve got to do a better job.”
The Giants took an early loss against a division opponent, and will have to make up for this bone-headed move.
