Reggie Bush left Monday night’s game against the Minnesota Vikings with a leg injury. He was carted off into the locker room and announced as questionable to return. The injury moves Jarryd Hayne up the depth chart, just behind starter Carlos Hyde.
Reggie Bush suffers calf strain vs. Vikings
Bush’s injury makes Jarryd Hayne the 49ers’ backup running back behind Carlos Hyde.

Update: Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Tuesday that Bush suffered a calf strain, not a tear. He is considered week to week.
Bush left the game in the first quarter after a good start to the game. He looked swift on his two touches, gaining eight yards on two carries.
Unfortunately, the injury continues a frustrating trend of injuries. Bush missed seven games in his last two seasons in Detroit. He averaged fewer than 4.0 yards per carry last season for the first time since 2008.
The 49ers running game should be able to manage. The team’s bell cow, Carlos Hyde, has already gained 33 yards rushing on six carries. The injury will create a bigger role than expected for Hayne, who was one of the 49ers few positive offseason stories after he made the team from the Australian rugby league.
