‘Thursday Night Football’ live stream: How to watch Broncos vs. Chiefs 2015 online

Peyton Manning tries to get his season back on the rails against a tough Kansas City defense.

CBS and the NFL Network kick off their Thursday night series this week with an AFC West matchup between the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs. Both teams come in at 1-0, but the Chiefs will be happier, especially playing at Arrowhead Stadium.

Denver beat the Baltimore Ravens, 19-13, in its opener despite the Ravens harassing Peyton Manning into one of the worst games of his career. Manning went 24-of-40 for only 175 yards, was sacked four times and had an interception returned for a touchdown by Jimmy Smith.

Denver's only touchdown came on Aqib Talib's 51-yard interception return. Broncos kicker Brandon McManus also had an outstanding game, hitting four field goals, including kicks from 56 and 57 yards, respectively.

The Broncos' defense was solid, holding Joe Flacco to 117 yards and intercepting him twice, including Darian Stewart's game-saving play in the end zone with 28 seconds left.

Kansas City went into Houston and beat up the Houston Texans on both sides of the ball in a 27-20 win. The Chiefs' pass rush had five sacks and forced Bill O'Brien to yank Brian Hoyer in the fourth quarter with the Texans losing, 27-9.

The Chiefs also held Houston's Alfred Blue to 42 yards rushing while, on the other side of the ball, Alex Smith was having an easy time. He finished 22-of-33 for 243 yards and three touchdowns -- two to tight end Travis Kelce, and one to Jamaal Charles.

So, as expected, Thursday night will pit a red-hot quarterback against a defense that looked great in Week 1, but that matchup will be Smith against Denver. Manning is coming off a bad performance, and now has to face Justin Houston, Tamba Hali and defensive end Allen Bailey, who used the attention being paid to Houston and Hali to sack Hoyer twice.
