NFL picks and predictions, Dolphins vs. Jaguars 2015: Few like Jacksonville in Week 2

The Miami Dolphins are favored to go 2-0 on the season, at least as far as the expert picks go.

The Miami Dolphins are getting every opportunity to hit the ground running this season, taking on a struggling Washington team in the opener and an iffy Jacksonville Jaguars team in their second outing. They're not guaranteed to win by any stretch of the imagination, but the Dolphins are in better shape overall than both of those teams, and actually have something approaching stability in the early goings of the season.

Head coach Joe Philbin was brought back this offseason despite the team missing the playoffs in each of his three seasons with the team. The Dolphins were anything but complacent this offseason, giving Philbin a short extension and making the biggest splash of free agency by bringing in defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

They also added a weapon on offense in wide receiver Kenny Stills. Unfortunately, the recently extended Ryan Tannehill only hit Stills once for 12 yards, though he did find tight end Jordan Cameron four times for 73 yards. Tannehill is now being paid like a franchise quarterback and while he wasn't perfect in the team's opener, he was solid with 22 of 34 completions for 226 yards and a touchdown, with no interceptions.

Blake Bortles didn't fare quite as well in his first game. The second-year quarterback found Allen Hurns five times for 60 yards, and threw a touchdown, but he completed barely more than half of his passes (22 of 40) for 182 yards and had a pair of interceptions against Ron Rivera's defense. He also didn't get much help in the running game, as the team rushed for 96 yards on 21 total attempts, 26 yards of which came from Bortles himself.

Miami's defense played well against Washington, when it came to making Kirk Cousins uncomfortable, but they did allow 161 yards rushing. The Jaguars will likely try and get T.J. Yeldon as many touches as possible early and often, to take advantage of a Miami defensive front that may be a little too aggressive to effectively stop the run. We'll see if they made the proper adjustments or not following Alfred Morris' big day against them.

As far as experts are concerned, it’s unanimous over at CBS Sports, with all eight experts going with the Dolphins to win it. The experts at ESPN agree, with all 13 of theirs going with the Dolphins as well.

SB Nation’s experts aren’t quite divided, though there are a couple picking the Jaguars to come out on top. Ryan Van Bibber and PFT Commenter both picked the Jaguars to win, while the other five experts, along with OddsShark, are going with the Dolphins to win Sunday’s game.
