Bills vs. Lions 2015 live stream: Game time, TV schedule and how to watch online
The Lions and Bills play at Ford Field in their annual preseason game.

The reason for the annual game is that longtime Bills owner Ralph Wilson was not only a Detroiter -- he lived in one of the city’s richest suburbs until his death in 2014. Wilson actually owned a small percentage of the Lions when they won their last championship in 1957 as part of the partnership that sold the team to William Clay Ford on Nov. 22, 1963. Even in Detroit, that story lost out in the headlines to the assassination of President Kennedy in Dallas.
Wilson and Ford, who were close friends, never got to see their teams play each other in the Super Bowl, but they did set up an arrangement where the Bills and Lions would face off every year at the end of training camp.
The Lions and Bills also met in the regular season in 2014, with Buffalo winning 17-14 and defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz telling his players to carry him off the field. That angered many of the Lions, who had suffered through his coaching reign in Detroit, but Schwartz was fired with the rest of the staff when Rex Ryan took over.
Thursday's game will see Kellen Moore try to convince the Detroit coaches that he's worth keeping as a third quarterback -- he's been badly outplayed by Dan Orlovsky for the No. 2 job -- while EJ Manuel and Matt Cassel could be battling for a roster spot after Tyrod Taylor was officially named the Bills' starter this season.
