Marshawn Lynch is officially active for Sunday's divisional round game against the Carolina Panthers. It's the first time since Week 10 that Lynch has been active.
Marshawn Lynch is active and ready to roll against the Panthers
Lynch announced his return in the most Marshawn Lynch way possible.
Beast Mode said earlier in the week that he was prepared to return to action for the Seattle Seahawks and announced it in the most Marshawn Lynch way possible, a two-word text to ESPN's Kenny Mayne that just said "I'm ready."
Lynch, 29, has been recovering from a hernia surgery he had in November. The ninth-year running back missed nine games during the 2015 regular season after never missing more than four games in his first eight NFL seasons. He practiced prior to a Wild Card matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, but was ruled out before the game.
This could be Lynch's final season with the Seahawks, after he was acquired from the Buffalo Bills via trade during the 2010 season. Due to count $11.5 million against the salary cap in 2016 and $12.5 million, the Seahawks could elect to move on without Lynch, which could be easier after the emergence of Thomas Rawls.
Lynch has 9,112 career yards in the regular season, and another 917 in 10 career playoff games. In his first season with the Seahawks, Lynch went into postseason lore with his Beast Quake run against the New Orleans Saints.
In a Week 6 loss to the Carolina Panthers, Lynch posted 54 yards on 17 rushing attempts with a touchdown, but a late comeback for the Panthers dropped the Seahawks to 2-4.
