Cam Newton leads a group of four Carolina Panthers players who made the Pro Football Writers of America's All-NFL team. Newton, a sure MVP candidate, is joined by center Ryan Kalil, linebacker Luke Kuechly and cornerback Josh Norman, giving Carolina more players on the PFWA All-NFL team than any other team in the league.

Oakland Raiders outside linebacker and defensive end Khalil Mack was honored at both positions, which marks the first time in history that one player has been designated at two positions on the PFWA All-NFL team. Mack also made history this season when he was the first player in league history to be named a first-team All-Pro at two positions.

The Arizona Cardinals had three players featured on the All-NFL team. Cornerback Patrick Peterson and safety Tyrann Mathieu were both named to the All-NFL team. Both Peterson's and Mathieu's names have been tossed around as candidates for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award this season. Cardinals cornerback Justin Bethel was also named to the All-NFL roster as a special teams player.

Not surprisingly, a large number of players honored represent this season's playoff teams. In addition to the players listed from Carolina and Arizona, the New England Patriots and Minnesota Vikings each had two players represented, while the Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs each had one player named to the roster.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski, who led all tight ends in receiving yards this season with 1,176, and kicker Stephen Gostkowski represent the Patriots on the roster, and running back Adrian Peterson and return specialist Cordarrelle Patterson made the roster from the Vikings.

For the Steelers, Antonio Brown makes his second consecutive appearance at wide receiver after finishing the season second in receiving yards behind only Julio Jones, who also was named to the roster. J.J. Watt of the Texans, who led the league in sacks this season, was named to the roster at defensive end. Cincinnati's Geno Atkins is listed at defensive tackle, and Broncos linebacker Von Miller is listed at outside linebacker. Safety Eric Berry of the Chiefs, who came back this season after fighting Hodgkin's lymphoma, made the roster.
