The Denver Broncos will take on the Carolina Panthers under the bright lights of Super Bowl 50 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. The big game is set for Sunday, Feb. 7, and will feature the first time a Super Bowl has been played by two starting quarterbacks taken first overall in the NFL Draft.
Super Bowl 2016 schedule: A look at the biggest events leading up to the game
The Panthers will take on the Broncos in the Super Bowl, but there’s a whole lot of fun before they ever take the field.
But before Peyton Manning and Cam Newton take the field for the big game, the NFL will have a slew of events surrounding the game to gets fans interested and involved. The hype machine for a Super Bowl is unlike any other, and if you happen to be in Santa Clara when it ramps up, there will be plenty to do in the week leading up to the game and even on gameday outside of, well, the actual football game.
The NFL Experience is the one that the NFL is pushing the most. It starts on Saturday, Jan. 30, and runs through the day of the game. It’s something of a theme park offering “participatory games, youth football clinics, merchandise from NFL Shop and free autograph sessions from NFL players.” The league touts an enhanced Super Bowl rings display, seeing yourself against NFL players in the 40-yard dash and vertical jump on screens and personalized digital photos.
There is also Super Bowl City, the free fan village dedicated to celebrating the Super Bowl. It will be centered in Justin Herman Plaza on the Embarcadero, and there will be plenty of similar activities to the NFL Experience. Super Bowl City will also feature several concerts on the City Stage and the Fan Stage.
The full schedule of Super Bowl City entertainment can be found here.
Super Bowl Media Day has taken on a shift this year, and is referred to as Super Bowl Opening Night this year. That will take place on Feb. 1 at the SAP Center in San Jose. Fans will be able to see players and coaches address the media and plenty more.
Then there’s the Fan Gallery, which also will be held from Jan. 30 through gameday. Fans can watch the media in action there, and it is free to the public. There will be other isolated events surrounding the game, which can be found here, but we’ve covered the big ones above.
Here’s all the information you need to know about the big game itself.
