When the St. Louis Rams hosted the San Francisco 49ers earlier in the year, it was the Rams that cruised to a 27-6 victory. Two months later, experts aren't as convinced that the Rams will have a repeat performance and pickers are split between the two NFC West teams.
NFL picks and predictions, Rams vs. 49ers 2016: Experts split, but leaning toward St. Louis
A slight majority of the experts at SB Nation are taking the Rams to finish the year on a four-game winning streak.
In the Week 8 win for the Rams, Colin Kaepernick managed just 162 passing yards and completed fewer than half of his passes. The 49ers rushing offense didn't help much either, with Kendall Gaskins and Mike Davis combining for all of 10 yards on 15 carries.
But the Rams followed the win with five consecutive losses, and while the team has rebounded with three straight wins, it’s too little, too late. The 49ers haven’t been able to string together wins all year though, and they enter Week 17 on a three-game losing streak.
The 49ers' offense found some life when Blaine Gabbert took over at quarterback, but he has yet to throw more than two touchdown passes in a game and the San Francisco offense is still last in the NFL in points scored. The Rams aren't far behind, with the No. 30 scoring offense, and are the worst in total offense.
At CBS Sports, it's an even split of the eight panelists, with four experts taking each team. It's a similar story with SB Nation's team, although the Rams get the slight edge with four of the seven expert picks. The OddsShark computer is siding with the majority too and taking St. Louis to finish the year with a win.
