The NFL broke the record for most passing touchdowns in a season for the fourth consecutive year in 2015, beating the previous mark of 807 touchdowns set in 2014. Entering Week 17, there were 795 passing touchdowns thrown and it didn’t take long for quarterbacks to collectively reach 13 touchdowns on Sunday to break the record.
The 2015 NFL season has had the most passing TDs ever
There have been 808 touchdown passes, and counting, during the 2015 season.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill was the one who did it, connecting with DeVante Parker for a 15-yard touchdown pass.
Despite the record-breaking passing numbers, there wasn't a quarterback who came close to approaching the 55 touchdown passes thrown by Peyton Manning in 2013. Tom Brady entered Week 17 with the NFL lead in passing touchdowns with 36, and was one of nine quarterbacks with 30 or more touchdown passes, tying the record for most in a season.
Ryan Fitzpatrick and Matt Ryan each entered Sunday at 29 touchdowns and needed just one more to push the record for 30-touchdown quarterbacks to a record amount. Both did early in their matchups against the Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints, respectively, making 11 quarterbacks at 30 or more touchdowns.
The 2013 season was the first to feature more than 800 touchdown passes, finishing with 804 and breaking the record of 757 touchdowns set in 2012:
