After winning their first three games of the season, the Philadelphia Eagles have started to come back to Earth. They've lost their last two contests to the Detroit Lions and Washington, partially because Carson Wentz has been thrown off his game. He threw an interception and fumbled in the waning moments against the Lions and only posted a 77.7 QB rating against Washington. Both defenses were able to establish pressure, which is exactly what the Vikings are equipped to do.
Vikings vs. Eagles 2016, NFL picks and predictions: Minnesota expected to win in Sam Bradford’s return to Philadelphia
Most of the experts think Bradford will lead the Vikings to a win against his former team.
Coming off a bye week, the 5-0 Vikings are the only undefeated team left in the league. They’re currently the second-ranked defense and have recorded the third-most sacks with 19. If the Vikings can pressure Wentz and force him to make quick decisions, they could come away with a couple of turnovers.
On the other side of the ball, Sam Bradford will also be going against one of the better defenses in the NFL. In fact, the Eagles are the fourth-ranked pass defense, only allowing 207.4 yards through the air per game. Bradford, 28, is in the midst of a career season. He hasn't thrown an interception in five games and owns a 109.7 QB rating.
On paper, this looks to be a difficult matchup for Bradford. The fact that he's returning to Philadelphia to face the team that traded him less than two months ago adds an additional element to the equation. It could mean he's extra motivated to play well, but the same thing could be said for the other side. Jim Schwartz's defense has been aggressive all season long and the game plan shouldn't change Sunday. Since the Vikings have the fewest rushing yards in the league -- Adrian Peterson is on IR -- the game will likely all fall on Bradford's shoulders.
Six of our 10 experts at SB Nation think Bradford will respond well and the Vikings will win. Over at CBS, seven of their eight experts like the Vikings, whereas all seven of ESPN's analysts who have submitted picks also expect Minnesota to be victorious.
