The New York Giants and Los Angeles Rams have been playing inconsistent football this season, but both teams sit at 3-3 heading into the second London game of the season. Getting a win here would be an important springboard as the teams try to keep pace in their respective division races. The game will be televised exclusively on NFL Network and Sunday Ticket subscribers can stream it online.
NFL London 2016 live stream: How to watch Giants vs. Rams online
The Giants and Rams head to London with both teams trying to get back over .500.
The Giants snapped their three-game losing streak with a comeback win over the Baltimore Ravens, thanks to a career-best day from Odell Beckham Jr. The young star receiver has been in the headlines a lot this season, and not always for the right reasons, but he put the team on his back in the second half, finishing with eight catches for 220 yards and two touchdowns, including the winning 66-yard score late in the fourth quarter.
There are still some concerns with this team, though. The running game remains stuck in mud, with the team managing just 38 yards on 17 carries against the Ravens. Sterling Shepard has fallen off after a hot start to his season, recording only 10 catches for 69 yards in the past three games. Eli Manning is still struggling with turnovers and threw two more interceptions last week. With Washington and the Dallas Cowboys surging, the Giants can’t afford to fall further behind in the NFC East.
The Rams are getting surprisingly great play from Case Keenum, who had one of his best games yet last week. Keenum threw for 321 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception on 27-of-32 passing, which should’ve been good enough to get his team the win. However, the defense fell apart late and allowed the Detroit Lions to come from behind and get the 31-28 win. The Rams have now lost two games in a row and their 3-1 start is already starting to feel like a memory.
The biggest story surrounding the Rams this year is the performance of Todd Gurley, and it’s not because he’s been playing well. Gurley has just 346 rushing yards in six games, averaging 2.9 yards per carry. He struggled to get going again last week, managing only 58 yards on 14 carries. Gurley hasn’t been helped out by a dismal offensive line, but he was expected to carry this offense and so far it’s been Keenum, not Gurley, getting the job done.
But if there’s one encouraging sign for this offense, it’s the re-emergence of Kenny Britt. Once considered one of the most promising receiver prospects in the league, Britt entered the year as an afterthought after several disappointing, injury-riddled seasons. However, he’s finding his groove again and went off against the Lions, snagging seven catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Britt is on pace for 1,312 receiving yards, which would be the first 1,000-yard season of his eight-year career.
The NFC West looks like it could come down to the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals again, but the Rams can’t be counted out after beating both teams earlier in the year. But in order for them to stay in the playoff race and not sink back to 7-9 levels, they’ll have to start stringing together quality performances. Breaking a two-game losing streak and getting back over .500 in London would go a long way towards accomplishing their goals this year.
