Brock Osweiler is returning to Denver after perhaps his most encouraging game in a Texans uniform. He led the Texans back from a 14-point deficit against the Indianapolis Colts with less than three minutes remaining in regulation and also engineered a game-winning drive in overtime. So far, Osweiler has been a disappointment for $72 million. But his performance in the waning moments last week could be a harbinger for things to come.

Brock Osweiler returns to Denver for the first time since leaving the Broncos in free agency.

It was a messy divorce for Osweiler and the Broncos. He left them in free agency over $2 million per season and also didn't attend the team's White House ring ceremony. General manager John Elway also appeared to throw some shade at Osweiler after he left, saying he'll only sign players who "want to be Broncos."
Suffice to say, it seems like head coach Gary Kubiak's decision to ride with Peyton Manning at the end of last season sat poorly with Osweiler. But now he's in charge of his own team and can stick it to the Broncos.
Much like last season, Denver is winning on the strength of its defense. Sophomore Trevor Siemian was progressing nicely through the first four games of the season at quarterback, but then injured his shoulder earlier this month. Despite throwing the ball 50 times in the Broncos' loss to the San Diego Chargers on Thursday Night Football last week, he only passed for 230 yards.
Both the Texans and Broncos are entering Monday night's contest with 4-2 records. Since Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is expected to be out four to six weeks with a knee injury, there's an opening at the top of the AFC. The winner of this game will be in the best position to take it.
