Chiefs vs. Colts 2016 live stream: Time, TV schedule, and how to watch online

The Chiefs will try to keep pace in the AFC West when they take on the Colts this week.

The Kansas City Chiefs are sitting at 4-2, but they have some heated competition in the AFC West. The Indianapolis Colts are still struggling, but at 3-4 they’re very much in the mix for the division title in a bad AFC South. These teams meet up in Week 8 looking for a somewhat important conference win to give them a leg up on potential tiebreaker scenarios in the playoff race.

Jamaal Charles still isn’t close to 100 percent, but with Spencer Ware continuing to play at a high level, the Chiefs have been getting by just fine. They rolled the New Orleans Saints with little effort last week, jumping out to an early 21-7 lead and holding on for the 27-21 victory. Ware rushed 17 times for 77 yards and had two catches for an additional 54 yards, including a screen pass he took 46 yards to the end zone while making the Saints defense look silly. Ware is now up to 492 rushing yards in six games, averaging a robust 5.2 yards per carry.

If there’s a concern for Kansas City, it’s that the passing game continues to be limited -- although that’s probably expected with Alex Smith’s risk-averse style. They Chiefs are averaging 238.3 passing yards per game, 21st in the league. Jeremy Maclin has disappeared for long stretches this season -- he hasn’t caught a touchdown pass since Week 1 and has yet to reach 80 receiving yards in a game. However, as long as Ware keeps tearing up the field and Charles gets closer to full health, the Chiefs are in a pretty good spot right now.

For the Colts, last week was the same old story -- the defense blows a big lead and Andrew Luck has to bail them out at the last minute. It cost them a game against the Houston Texans in Week 6 and almost cost them again last week, when the Tennessee Titans erased a seven-point deficit to take a 23-20 lead in the fourth quarter. Fortunately for Indy, Luck got on the saddle and rallied the team to a 34-26 win.

Thanks to the Texans’ poor showing on Monday night, the Colts are just one game back in the division. A Week 6 meltdown could cost them in a head-to-head tiebreaker, however. They’re still stealing with multiple key injuries at wide receiver, although Donte Moncrief and Phillip Dorsett both practiced all week and are expected to make their returns in this tame. Moncrief hasn’t played since suffering a shoulder injury in Week 2, and his presence should be a major boost for Luck and the offense.

The Colts have a lot of problems and no easy fixes, but Luck is back in MVP-level form after an injury-ruined 2015 season. He’s completing 64.9 percent of his passes, by far the highest mark of his career, for 2,074 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. Luck is back and that should keep Indy in playoff contention, especially with nobody else in the division stepping up this year. Beating the Chiefs would go a long way toward reversing their season trajectory after a 1-3 start.
