After a lengthy four-month investigation, the Dallas Police Department has determined that Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib shot himself on June 5 in a park this past summer.

Rebecca Lopez of WFAA-TV reported that the gunshot wound came at the hands of Talib himself, as opposed to somebody else. Lopez added that Talib told the officers that he was shot while standing in a park on June 5.
Back in June, Talib told police that he was “too intoxicated” to remember what had happened when he was shot. Talib told police that he was at a park with a large group, when he suffered the wound at 3:40 a.m. As a result of the shooting, Talib missed out on the Broncos’ visit to the White House for their celebration of their Super Bowl 50 win.
Despite the injury, Talib has started all four games for the Broncos this season, and even had an interception for a touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3.
Talib still faces possible discipline from the NFL, though it doesn’t appear any is planned. Plaxico Burress received a four-game suspension from the league for his incident back in 2008 when he shot himself at a Manhattan nightclub. Burress also served jail time because of New York’s gun laws.
