Drew Stanton will be in at quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals when they face Blaine Gabbert and the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football. Stanton is starting in place of Carson Palmer, who left the team's Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams with a concussion.
Cardinals vs. 49ers 2016 picks: Experts almost unanimously siding with Arizona
Both teams are 1-3, but the Cardinals are heavily favored over the 49ers on Thursday. Watch the live stream on Twitter with us!
Palmer is in the league’s concussion protocol, and on Wednesday the team announced he would not be able to play given the short week.
Both the 49ers and Cardinals are 1-3 to start the season, though for one side this is a surprise while for the other it was expected. The 49ers were supposed to be struggling this year, and they are, while the Cardinals were expected to lead the division. All is not yet lost for the Cardinals, but they really cannot afford to lose to the 49ers, of all teams, on Thursday.
As far as experts are concerned, over at CBS Sports it’s a shutout. No one on their eight-man panel thinks the 49ers can win it. It’s the same situation at ESPN, though only six of their nine experts had submitted picks. All of them are picking the Cardinals.
Here at SB Nation, it’s a similar spread but not quite unanimous, with one of the nine experts picking the 49ers. The rest, plus the OddsShark computer, think the Cardinals will win it.
