49ers fans are ready for Colin Kaepernick to replace Blaine Gabbert. Chip Kelly might be ready too.

An ugly loss to the Cardinals on Thursday night has the 49ers coach willing to consider “everything.”

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Cardinals beat the 49ers on Thursday night, 33-21. They did this with Drew Stanton at quarterback, who was lucky enough to have Larry Fitzgerald and David Johnson by his side. Fitz and Johnson accounted for 266 total yards, 92 percent of Arizona's offensive production. The Niners must have made Fitz mad when they body slammed him.

Arizona’s defense had a part to play here, too. They came up with three turnovers, seven sacks, five tackles for a loss and kept the 49ers to an average of less than 4 yards per play.

Here’s the part that’s really going to shock you: Blaine Gabbert was terrible. He was 18-for-31 with 162 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The worst part was that every time the 49ers got some momentum going, he killed it. No wonder fans were chanting “we want Kap!” It may happen too. Head coach Chip Kelly said after the game that he’ll consider making changes, including replacing Gabbert with Colin Kaepernick.

It’s time.

GIANTS FED UP WITH BECKHAM: Giants coaches are ready to bench Odell Beckham Jr. if he has another outburst. The Giants recognize that they need to get Beckham the ball more than they have so far this season. First, they need the third-year superstar receiver to cool it with the antics and focus on the next play.

LYNCH THE MAN IN DENVER? Adam Schefter says ‘signs point’ to Paxton Lynch starting for the Denver Broncos. It sounds like Paxton Lynch is in line to start Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

TERRELLE PRYOR IS AWESOME: Terrelle Pryor is back for good, and that’s great news for all of us, especially him. After a long, sputtering, and unsatisfying homecoming, it’s OK to care about Terrelle Pryor again. I think.

HOW TO BE A DUMBASS: Jim Schwartz submits his entry for quote of the year. “You do dumb ass things, pretty soon you’re going to be labeled a dumb ass.”

MANZIEL’S BROS BLAME THE BROWNS: Johnny Manziel’s long-time friend says going to Cleveland was the worst thing ever. Unsurprisingly, Manziel’s friends blame the Browns for his troubles.

SEXUALLY SUGGESTIVE: We desperately want to see the NFL’s video explaining “sexually suggestive acts” on the field. The NFL is going to explain this to teams with a video. Let’s imagine what that video would look like.

RULE BREAKERS MAY HAVE FOUND A SECRET: Three NFL teams broke the same rule in the offseason and they all have winning records. The Falcons, Seahawks, and Ravens were all punished for excessive contact in the offseason, and they’re all winning.

COULD THE BUCKEYES BEAT THE BROWNS? A majority of Ohio voters believe that the Buckeyes would beat the Browns.

SLIPPING RATINGS: What’s going on with NFL ratings? One theory is that the presidential election and a changing of the guard among the superstar players has led to the dip in ratings. No mention here of the terrible games we’ve been treated to in prime time so far this season or the impact of cord cutting, both of which have to be part of the conversation.

THAT WON’T HELP: The NFL is going to fine teams that share highlights with their fans on social media. That seems like a great idea!

REDZONE RULES: NFL RedZone viewers miss up to 38 hours worth of commercials. Now that RedZone is more also more widely available online through services like SlingTV, I suspect more and more people will be missing those ads.
