Titans vs. Dolphins 2016: Time, TV schedule, and live stream

Will the Titans or Dolphins take their first step toward .500 on Sunday?

The Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans were not expected to be great teams this season, but both are off to even worse starts than expected. Both are 1-3 on the season and tied for last place in their respective divisions. One of them will hopefully take the first step toward .500 when they meet in Week 5 action on Sunday, however.

Sunday’s game between the two will be played at the newly renovated Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Fla. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on television via CBS. The only way to watch the game online is via an online Sunday Ticket subscription.

Tennessee is already in panic mode, with the Titans firing special teams coach Bobby April after their Week 4 loss. April seems a weird person to fire, given he’s been one of the more well-respected coaches in the league for a long time, and has been named the Special Teams Coach of the Year twice in his career.

Two special teams plays did stand out as egregiously bad in Tennessee’s Week 4 loss to the Houston Texans, however. The Titans had 12 men on the field when the Texans were set to punt, drawing a penalty that the Texans ultimately turned into a field goal. Earlier in the game, the Texans scored on a 67-yard punt return.

But it still seems like a panic move that shouldn’t make much of a difference overall. The Titans are struggling all over the place, not just on special teams. Actually, rather than struggling, they rank in the middle of the pack more than anything. On offense, they rank 18th in the league in total yardage, and on defense rank 13th in yards allowed.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins rank all the way down at No. 26 on offense, and 27th on defense. Both teams may be 1-3, but the Titans have looked far and away like the better football team this season.

Marcus Mariota hasn’t been perfect for the Titans, completing 58.8 percent of his passes for 925 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions. He started out the season looking good, but has quickly regressed to average numbers. The running game is working for the most part, which is a good sign, as DeMarco Murray has 340 yards and three touchdowns with a 5.2 yards per carry average.

Ryan Tannehill is playing better than Mariota on the stat sheet, but he’s been far too inconsistent for the Dolphins. They continue to hope that Tannehill can be their franchise quarterback, but he doesn’t put up franchise numbers. Tannehill has completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 1,081 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions.

The biggest issue with Miami’s offense is its running game. No back on the roster averages more than 25 yards per game. Jay Ajayi is the team’s leading rusher with just 75 yards, with Kenyan Drake behind him at 64 yards and Tannehill in third with 54 yards. The Dolphins desperately need one of their running backs to step up.
