New York Giants left tackle Ereck Flowers did not violate the NFL’s personal conduct policy when he shoved a reporter following the team’s 23-16 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 5, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It was a rare instance of a player actually getting physically violent with a member of the press.

The hulking offensive lineman shoved ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan after Sunday’s loss. But the NFL says it was not a violation of the personal conduct policy.

According to an account from NJ.com, ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan approached Flowers while he was talking to another reporter. “Hey, get out my face man. Don’t come over here,” Flowers said. When Raanan didn’t leave, Flowers doubled down, saying “You hear me?”
Raanan responded by telling Flowers: “I’m just trying to do my job.”
When Flowers told Raanan to leave again, he gave the same response. The 6’6, 329-pound offensive lineman then reportedly told Raanan to “get the [expletive] out of my face, bro.” Raanan once again told Flowers he was just trying to do his job, which led to him getting shoved.
Raanan confirmed the incident afterwards, saying the altercation was nothing serious.

The Tuesday after the game, Flowers didn't speak much when he returned to the facility. The New York Post says his response to any inquiries about the situation was, "I'm here to talk about Baltimore." Giants head coach Ben McAdoo stuck with Flowers at left tackle despite his outburst and poor play. He allowed two sacks in the loss that week.
