Bryce Petty’s 1st NFL touchdown pass came on a perfectly executed hook-and-lateral

Petty’s a Baylor grad, but he learned something from Boise State.

Bryce Petty made his first NFL start on Sunday after taking Ryan Fitzpatrick’s spot behind center. The second-year quarterback made sure his first professional touchdown pass was a memorable one.

Petty found Brandon Marshall with a third-and goal pass, and the veteran quickly lateraled to Bilal Powell, who carried the ball over the goal line to give the New York Jets a 6-3 lead over the Los Angeles Rams. Nick Folk missed the ensuing extra point.

Through just over one quarter, Petty had completed four of his five passes for 70 yards and the aforementioned touchdown.
