Before the game
Week 10 wraps up with an inter-conference battle between the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Giants on Monday Night Football. Both teams will be looking for an important win to stay in the thick of the playoff race.
The Giants are 5-3 and entered Week 10 with a wild card spot in the NFC playoff picture, but they are well behind the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East and any slip-up could be costly with a crowded field right behind them in the playoff hunt. Eli Manning has been running hot and cold most of the year and the ground game is downright nonexistent.
On the bright side, the Giants’ defense is playing well and the team is capable of beating just about anyone on its best day. After all, they handed the Cowboys their only loss of the season so far. The division race could get really interesting if both teams are close in the standings heading into their Week 14 rematch.
The Bengals are 3-4-1 and having trouble finding consistency, but they’re far from out of it in a weak AFC North. The Baltimore Ravens hold first place at 5-4 after dispatching the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night, while the Pittsburgh Steelers are 4-5. Cincinnati hasn’t played a lot of inspiring football this season, but A.J. Green continues to be outstanding and Tyler Eifert is finally healthy, giving Andy Dalton a much-needed weapon in the red zone. Much work is to be done, however -- the Bengals have yet to beat a team with a winning record this year.
