5 NFL coaches who need to be fired

What do Mike McCarthy and Gus Bradley have in common? They just can’t live up to expectations.

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Packers should fire Mike McCarthy. Here are seven options for replacing him. If the Packers make a move at the end of the season, here’s who they could turn to to take the reins.

McCarthy isn’t the only head coach who deserves the boot after the season. Hell, he might not even be the most deserving.

Gus Bradley, Jaguars -- Even the players have turned on the coaches in Jacksonville.

Jeff Fisher, Rams -- He's hoarding the No. 1 pick in the draft, but it's not like Jared Goff can fix the mess Fisher created.

Mike Tomlin, Steelers -- This is similar to McCarthy's situation. The team isn't bad, but they're not even close to meeting expectations.

Todd Bowles, Jets -- There's something to be said for being patient, and this is only Bowles' second season trying to clean up the mess he inherited. But it doesn't seem to be getting any better, does it?

What about Hue Jackson? Sure, the Browns are 0-10, and that's a feat in and of itself. However, the roster's been gutted for a complete and total rebuild. Give the guy another year at least.

What about Chuck Pagano? Eh, the time to fire him, and GM Ryan Grigson, was after last season. The Colts are middling along OK enough to get by this year without having much to work with on the roster.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BENGALS? The Bengals’ season is on the ropes, and they aren’t sure why. After four seasons with 10 or more wins and five straight playoff appearances, the Bengals are struggling, and they can’t figure it out.

GIANTS OFFENSE GETS IT DONE: The Giants offense really can close out a game. Giants’ offense takes big step forward.

BAD BENGALS: Two winners and three losers from Bengals’ disastrous loss. A lot of Bengals stepped up against the Giants, but some familiar issues reared their ugly heads again.

ODELL’S HAVING FUN AGAIN: Odell Beckham Jr. danced to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” after scoring against the Bengals. “Something evil’s lurking in the dark!”

MORE STAR WARS: The Bengals’ Star Wars formation was a Jedi mind trick on the Giants defense. It worked like a charm.

POWER RANKINGS: NFL power rankings: Welcome to the top, Cowboys. A pair of rookies refuse to let Dallas lose a game.

GRONK IS HURT: Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski suffered a chest injury against the Seahawks, per report. Gronk suffers a scary injury. Earl Thomas gave Rob Gronkowski something special: One of the hardest hits of his career. This was the hit that did it.

BAD NEWS BEARS: Alshon Jeffery suspended four games for PEDs. The bad news for the Chicago Bears keeps on coming.
