Cowboys vs. Washington 2016 final score: Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott are too much once again in 31-26 win

The Cowboys’ streak of eight straight games of more than 400 total yards ended, but Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott combined to produce four touchdowns.

Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott leading the Dallas Cowboys to victory has been a consistent theme all season, and the pair of talented rookies did it again — this time on Thanksgiving. With a pair of touchdowns each, Prescott and Elliott led Dallas to an early lead over Washington, and never gave up the lead in a 31-26 victory.

Elliott kicked off the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown to cap a 75-yard drive to open the game, and from there the Cowboys had a lead the team would never relinquish.

While the Cowboys finished the first half with a 17-6 lead, it wasn’t for a lack of offense on Washington’s end. Kirk Cousins hit halftime with more than 200 passing yards and led Washington into the red zone three times, but couldn’t find a touchdown in the first half.

Washington didn’t get a touchdown until early in the fourth quarter, when tight end Jordan Reed was able to make a diving, one-handed grab to get the team near the goal line.

A 67-yard touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson came on Washington’s next drive, but the Cowboys were able to respond to both scores with a touchdown of their own.

Reed caught another touchdown with fewer than two minutes remaining, but the onside kick that followed was unsuccessful and Dallas was able to run out the remaining clock.

Prescott finished the game with just 195 passing yards and one touchdown — far behind the 449 yards and three touchdowns recorded by Cousins — but kept the Cowboys offense balanced and added a 6-yard touchdown run of his own. Elliott tallied 97 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns, bolstering his already strong case for NFL MVP.

With the victory, the Cowboys are now 10-1 and inching closer to locking up a spot in the postseason and possibly a first-round bye, as well. Washington is still in line for a playoff spot of its own, but a 6-4-1 record gives the team a tenuous grasp on the second NFC Wild Card berth.
