Eagles vs. Washington live stream: How to watch NFL Week 14 matchup online

Can Washington make a late playoff push like it did a season ago?

The NFC East is firmly in the hands of the Dallas Cowboys, though the New York Giants are at least within striking distance. As a result, Washington and the Philadelphia Eagles are also-rans and are hoping for, at best, a wild card spot to make it into the playoffs.

On Sunday, the Eagles will play host to Washington in a game that kicks off at 1 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on FOX in the United States and will be available online via FOX Sports GO, though it will require login credentials from a cable or satellite provider.

Last season, Washington concluded the regular season with an impressive four-game winning streak built on great play from quarterback Kirk Cousins. Sitting with a 6-5-1 record, Washington will need similar heroics from Cousins to make things happen and make a playoff push.

Washington needed to make a push a couple weeks ago, but instead lost to the Cowboys and the Arizona Cardinals, following up a two-game winning streak with a two-game losing skid. The remaining schedule has games against the struggling Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears and the beatable Giants. There is plenty of room to make a playoff push.

But if Washington doesn’t play much better than in recent weeks, the team certainly won’t be making the postseason. Cousins has been good this season, completing 67.5 percent of his passes for 3,811 yards, 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions. The eight picks are an issue, but overall he’s probably played about as well as anybody expected.

He’ll be facing a Philadelphia passing defense that ranks 13th in the league. The Eagles have lost their last three games, falling to two struggling teams: the Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals. They have also lost every game played in the NFC East this season.

Washington, the Giants, and the Cowboys have beaten the Eagles, who will play all three teams again, in addition to the Baltimore Ravens, to close out their season. They aren’t really in a position to be competing for a playoff spot even if they win out, but winning is still the top priority for the Eagles and rookie quarterback Carson Wentz.

Wentz started the season on a tear, but he quickly regressed. He’s now just about average, with 63.1 percent of his passes completed for 2,901 yards, 12 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He went several games without throwing an interception but has struggled with his accuracy and decision-making down the stretch.

There has been enough from Wentz for the Eagles to be excited about his continued development. But at 5-7 on the season, Wentz likely won’t be leading his team to the playoffs in his first year in the NFL. The Eagles will probably need to settle for making things tough for the rest of the division, something they seem at least capable of doing.
