David Johnson may be one of football’s most underrated players, but he stamped his place in league history Sunday. The Arizona Cardinals’ running back set an NFL record against the New Orleans Saints by gaining more than 100 yards from scrimmage in his 14th straight game.
David Johnson sets NFL record with his 14th straight game with 100+ total yards
Johnson passed Edgerrin James as the only player to push 100 yard streaks into Week 16.

Johnson currently has 53 yards rushing and 55 receiving in the Week 15 matchup.
His latest big game helped him pass four-time All-Pro Edgerrin James in the record books. James hit triple-digits in 13 games to start his 2005 season. James also had a 12-game 100-yard streak to start his 2000 season.
Johnson doesn’t have kind of cache his Pro Bowler peer did. Despite leading the league in both yards from scrimmage and total non-passing touchdowns, he doesn’t even appear on betting sheets as a potential MVP candidate. Part of the problem is his surrounding cast; one year after advancing to the NFC Championship, Arizona is just 5-7-1 and in danger of missing the playoffs.
You can’t fault Johnson for that. The second-year back has averaged more than 130 yards from scrimmage per game this fall. After breaking James’ record, he’s taken another step forward in the journey from overlooked piece of the Cardinals’ offense to household name.
