Jon Dorenbos had played 160 straight games as the Philadelphia Eagles’ long snapper, so excuse Philadelphia for not having a super solid backup plan. When the longtime captain left Sunday’s game against Washington with an injured wrist, the team had to turn to tight end Brent Celek in his place.

It wasn’t great.
Celek’s low snap erased a 50-yard field goal attempt that would have given Philadelphia a 16-14 lead. Instead, holder Donnie Jones tried to run with the ball and was dropped for a 6-yard loss. The stop gave Washington possession at its own 46-yard line.
Things got even worse when Celek got hurt, leaving the Eagles with no clear plan for another kick. According to FOX sideline reporter Pam Oliver, Philadelphia didn’t have a contingency plan for a third-string long snapper.
Dorenbos made headlines this summer after appearing on America’s Got Talent. The veteran wowed judges (and Jon Gruden) with his magic tricks, eventually finishing third in the reality competition.
His next trick should be finding a way to get back onto the field, because the Eagles clearly need his long snapping prowess back in the lineup.
