Four of the fingers on Falcons safety Keanu Neal’s left hand currently point in the same direction. The fifth is looking to leave the group and embark on a solo career.
Falcons safety Keanu Neal suffered a gnarly dislocated finger against the 49ers
Neal’s left hand got some extra corners on Sunday.
Neal suffered a dislocated ring finger making a play in the third quarter of Sunday’s Falcons-49ers game. The rookie calmly jogged off the field, where a member of his team’s training staff popped the offending digit back into place.
The injury didn’t sideline the tough defensive back for long. He came back to the field for Atlanta’s next defensive series and recorded a tackle on San Francisco tailback Carlos Hyde.
2016 has been a rough year for gnarly dislocated fingers. Derek Carr suffered the injury on his throwing hand after mishandling a snap in a win over the Panthers. Matthew Stafford jacked up his finger — tearing a tendon in the process — when his passing follow-through connected with Leonard Floyd’s outstretched hand.
Both players had to wear gloves on their affected hands as a result of the injury. No word yet on whether Neal will need to make like Michael Jackson and don a single protective glove as well.
