Giants vs. Eagles 2016 picks and predictions: Experts think New York will clinch playoffs

Unsurprisingly, experts think the Giants will beat the Eagles and clinch a spot in the postseason in Week 16 on Thursday.

The New York Giants have plenty of momentum going into their final two games of the season. Those games will be against two NFC East opponents — the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington — and they will be favored in both of those games, barring something huge happening on the injury front.

New York is coming off wins over two of the current toughest teams in the league, the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions. Both games were close and hard-fought affairs, with the Giants coming out on top. They have now won eight of their last nine games.

The Giants will play the Eagles in primetime on Thursday Night Football for Week 16. They’re still fighting for both for the top spot in the NFC East with the Cowboys and a wild card berth.

Philadelphia looked great at the start of the season on the back of strong performances from rookie quarterback Carson Wentz, but they have been much worse in recent weeks. They have lost their last five games, including a crushing 27-26 defeat at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens in their last outing.

It hasn’t all been bad for Wentz, but the Eagles really need him to get a handle on his decision-making and accuracy. Wentz was known for the fact that he took several games to throw his first interception, but now he’s thrown 13 of them on the season, the same number of touchdowns he’s thrown.

The Giants can clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 2011 with a win over the Eagles. Philadelphia is not in the running for a playoff spot, but it would be more than happy to play spoiler to a division rival. New York holds the top wild card spot and trails the Cowboys by two games in the NFC East.

New York is favored in Vegas, but how do experts around the internet see it?

Over at CBS Sports, all eight of their experts are picking the Giants to win. At ESPN, only one writer was taking Philadelphia.

Here at SB Nation, two of the eight experts think the Eagles will win, leaving the remaining six, plus the OddsShark Computer, picking the Giants.
