Jets don’t plan to make changes. That should work out well.

The Jets have no plans to make any changes to the head coach or front office. That should go well.

Things can always change, but the New York Daily News reports that the Jets are unlikely to fire head coach Todd Bowles. Firing the coach or the GM probably isn’t going to magically fix the Jets anyway. They probably need to do something closer to what the Browns are doing, blow it all up, and start from scratch. That’s a difficult proposition for an owner who thinks his team should be competing for Super Bowls every year.

CHANGES IN INDY? Speculation begins to grow about possibility of Peyton Manning returning to the Colts. There are whispers of change coming to the Colts, but it’s the potential replacement who’s the most newsworthy.

JAGS INTERVIEW COUGHLIN: Jaguars’ head coach search kicks off with Tom Coughlin interview. This seems like the wrong direction, but we’ll see what happens.

MARVIN LEWIS IS NOT RETIRING: ESPN refutes notion Marvin Lewis will retire after 2016 season. Until the Bengals release news on Marvin Lewis’ future, assume he’s sticking around in Cincinnati through his contract, which currently ends after the 2017 season. Lewis confirmed it himself on the radio Thursday morning.

RESTING STARTERS: Should an NFL team rest its starters in Week 17? Five things to consider. Even with a playoff spot locked up, there are some situations where it makes sense to play the starters. NFL lineman Geoff Schwartz explains.

BACKUP QUARTERBACKS IN THE PLAYOFFS: NFL panic index, Week 17: four playoff teams have QBs with no postseason experience. There are plenty of unprovens in this winter’s playoff race.

THE FUTURE STARTS NOW: Panthers and Broncos must look toward the future, and it starts this week. Last year’s Super Bowl teams have been eliminated from playoff contention, and it’s time to focus on 2017.

MARTIN SUSPENDED: Doug Martin suspended for violating NFL PED policy. He’s since checked into a rehab facility.

HE WENT THERE: Bills interim head coach Anthony Lynn says he and Rex Ryan were “raised by different mamas.” Lynn is embracing this opportunity.

WIRED FOR SOUND: Derek Carr was wired for sound when he broke his leg. He knew instantly.
