New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul was forced to leave Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to an apparent lower body injury. He was helped off the field in the second quarter and taken to the team’s locker room.
Jason Pierre-Paul ruled out against Steelers with a groin strain
The playmaking defensive end went to the locker room in the second quarter of Sunday’s game.

The team reported the issue was a groin strain. The former All-Pro was originally questionable to return in Week 13, then later downgraded to out.
Pierre-Paul was in the middle of a renaissance year on the Giants’ defensive line. He’d made 50 tackles, recorded seven sacks, and forced three fumbles on the season. He also added a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Browns.
He wasn’t the only member of the team’s defensive line to go down on Sunday. Johnathan Hankins suffered a deep thigh bruise in the first half but returned in the third quarter.
The Steelers led the Giants, 14-0, at halftime.
