Both the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets have struggled big time this season. New York, at 3-8, is out of the playoff discussion thanks to a tough wild card race in the AFC and the New England Patriots playing in their division (the AFC East). The Colts, at 5-6, may have more luck in the AFC South.
Colts vs. Jets 2016: Time, live TV schedule for ‘Monday Night Football’
The Colts can’t afford another loss if they still have hopes of making the playoffs this season.

The two teams will meet in primetime on Monday Night Football for Week 13. The game begins at 8:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN, with a live stream available online at WatchESPN. As usual, Jon Gruden, Sean McDonough and Lisa Salters will be the commentary crew and sideline reporter.
While the Colts have been mediocre this season, the AFC South is one of the weaker divisions in the NFL, with both the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans boasting identical 6-6 records. That’s not insurmountable, but the Colts can’t afford to lose to teams like the Jets.
Andrew Luck has been fully cleared to return after a concussion kept him out of Indianapolis’s last game, a rough loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Colts were playing on a short week and Luck did not have time to progress through the league’s concussion protocol.
That defeat snapped a two-game winning streak for the Colts. Both were good wins too, against the Green Bay Packers and Titans. The Colts have beaten the Titans both times they have played this season, which is great for the division tiebreak, but they also lost to the Texans and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
They will play the Texans and Jaguars again, and have difficult games against the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders still on the schedule. Indianapolis can make it to the playoffs with just a little bit of help, but the team needs, more than anything, to not drop anymore winnable games.
New York is on a three-game losing skid, falling to the Miami Dolphins, the lowly Los Angeles Rams and, in its last outing, the Patriots. The Jets played some of their best football of the year against the Patriots, making it close, but they ultimately allowed Tom Brady to rally.
The Jets need to be able to get to Luck and make him uncomfortable in his return. Luck has been sacked a total of 35 times this season.
Ryan Fitzpatrick has been subpar, and Jets fans seem to be clamoring for Bryce Petty to start. However, when Petty was given a shot, he threw for just 163 yards against the Rams. Fitzpatrick hasn’t been any better though, completing just 57.6 percent of his passes for 2,252 yards, 10 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
