If you're eager to catch the last meaningful NFL game for the next several months, it's going to cost you a pretty penny, but not as much as it did about a week ago. Prices for Super Bowl 50 tickets at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara have dropped significantly with less than a week to go before the big game. If you want to see Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers take on Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, it's getting easier to do so.
Super Bowl week sees ticket prices start to drop on secondary market
Super Bowl 50 is less than a week away and ticket prices are starting to drop on the secondary market.

On Jan. 25, the cheapest tickets available at StubHub came in at $3,850 for the upper corner seats at the stadium. Middle section seats went anywhere from $4,000 to $7,000, and lower seats on the 50-yard line were well over $15,000.
Taking a look at StubHub now, the cheapest tickets, again in the upper corner, come in at $2,870 and it’s a similar pricing structure for all of the upper seating. Middle section seats are now coming in just over $3,000, but typically under $4,500 while a seat on the 50-yard line in the middle section will now run you about $15,000. Then again, on the other side of the field, the same tickets are approaching $20,000.
Previously, Ticketmaster’s ticket exchange program had the lowest-priced tickets going in the $3,800 range, and while they haven’t dropped as much as StubHub, you can still get upper seating starting around $3,100. The most expensive tickets available there are $11,361 for a lower section seat near midfield.
Over the weekend, prices were down by as much as $1,000 over the past two weeks depending on which resale site you used, but it’s still higher than most Super Bowls this decade, according to Mike Rosenberg of the San Jose Mercury News. The average price of Super Bowl tickets earlier this decade was around $3,000, which means the worst seats at Levi’s Stadium cost about as much as good seats would have in recent title games.
Forbes called Super Bowl 50 the second most expensive Super Bowl since at least 2010, with last year’s game between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks having tickets averaging $9,722.86. The get-in price was listed at just under $9,000 on the day of the game, which is typically supposed to be the best time to buy tickets from a monetary standpoint.
As of the start of this past weekend, the average secondary market price for Super Bowl 50 was $5,160.49, according to Forbes.
It makes sense that the prices will continue to fall as the week progresses. If there’s a spike in purchasing, they could go up briefly, but if you absolutely want the best deal, then waiting until the last minute is probably the smart bet.
