Rams RB Tre Mason arrested for reckless driving, 3 other charges

Mason was arrested in Florida for reckless driving and marijuana possession, among other charges.

Los Angeles Rams running back Tre Mason was arrested on Saturday after a run-in with police in Hollywood, Fla., according to WPLG Channel 10 in Miami/Fort Lauderdale.

The Broward County Clerk of Courts website lists four misdemeanor charges for Mason, who was arrested for reckless driving, resisting arrest, marijuana possession and failure to register a vehicle.

Mason, 22, was a third-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and tallied 765 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie for the Rams. He was outshined by Todd Gurley in his second season, though, and finished 2015 with only 207 yards and one touchdown on 75 rushing attempts, dropping his average from 4.3 yards per attempt as a rookie to 2.8 yards.

According to WPLG, Mason was taken to the hospital after his arrest, although details of the trip are not yet known.

Mason signed a four-year, $2.98 million deal with the Rams as a rookie and is scheduled to make $641,146 in 2016. While his salary wouldn’t be difficult for the team to carry next season, his declining production and the arrest may jeopardize his spot on the roster in 2016.
