Richie Incognito re-signs with Bills

Richie Incognito got a second chance in 2015 and capitalized on it with a Pro Bowl berth.

The Buffalo Bills announced a new deal for free agent offensive lineman Richie Incognito on Tuesday. Incognito tweets that the contract covers the next three seasons while NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport adds that the deal is worth roughly $15 million in total. The offensive lineman is notable for his part in the Miami Dolphins bullying scandal in 2013, which saw him suspended and taken out of the league for a year. However, he’s done a lot to rebuild his reputation, at least on the field.

Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills saw fit to give Incognito -- who was 31 years old at the time, and will turn 33 when the 2016 season gets underway -- a chance. He rewarded the Bills with possibly the best season yet, and was named to the 2016 Pro Bowl. He was an alternate, but enough people dropped out and it gave him the edge to make it in. Nevertheless, he certainly earned the honor.

Incognito is clearly nearing the back-end of his career and he only hit the open market because his value is all over the spectrum. The Bills wanted to get a deal done with Incognito all along, but with this potentially being his final pay day before he calls it a career, Incognito obviously had a dollar amount he believed he deserved based on his play last season.

Incognito has been named to two Pro Bowls and was a Pro Football Focus All-Pro player in 2015. He played in and started every game at guard for the Bills this past season, blocking well for first-year starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor.
