Former Rams cornerback Janoris Jenkins officially signed with the New York Giants. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Adam Schefter of ESPN reported it's a five-year contract worth $62.5 million. During the regular season, Jenkins said the Rams offered him a contract extension but that he declined and was betting on himself this past season.

Jenkins did quite well, with opposing quarterbacks clearly avoiding his side of the field. He has been spotty throughout his career, a real boom-or-bust corner that either makes a big play or allows a big play. But 2015 was indisputably the best season of his career from a coverage standpoint.
This past season, Jenkins had 64 tackles, three interceptions and 15 passes defensed. He gave up his share of touchdowns, but he gave up fewer big plays than he has in his other three seasons in the league. He was a candidate for the franchise tag, but when the team elected to use it on fellow cornerback Trumaine Johnson instead, he was headed for the open market.
Jenkins has been a steal thus far after he signed a $4.9 million deal out of college as a second-round pick in 2012. Earlier this month he turned down a five-year, $45 million offer from the Rams. His new deal with the Giants pays him more than $12 million per year, which puts him in the upper echelon of cornerback pay. With teams content to overpay for corners every year in free agency, it will be interesting to see what kind of results he posts with the Giants.
