Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back Jalen Ramsey, the No. 5 pick in last month's draft, has suffered a knee injury during Phase 2 of offseason workouts. According to a statement released by the Jags on Thursday, Ramsey has a "small tear to the meniscus in his right knee" and will get a second opinion next week.
Jaguars’ 1st-round pick injured in rookie camp for second straight year

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport added that he should be back for the start of training camp “if all goes well.” Ramsey is expected to start at corner if he’s healthy.
This is the second straight year that the Jaguars’ first-round pick is dealing with a knee injury in May. Last spring defensive end Dante Fowler, the third overall pick in the 2015 draft, tore his ACL during minicamp and sat out the entire season. Myles Jack, the team’s second-round pick this year, is also coming off a knee injury that caused him to drop out of first round of the draft.
Ramsey is also no stranger to knee injuries. The former Florida State star had microfracture surgery on his right knee -- the one that was hurt on Thursday -- as a sophomore in high school, reports Pro Football Talk’s Michael David Smith. It was not considered a big concern because Ramsey was healthy enough in college to start every game during his three seasons in Tallahassee.
The Jaguars had actually scaled back their approach to offseason workouts this year in the wake of what happened to Fowler. Yet this latest setback shows that players are at risk of injury anytime they are on the field or inside the practice facility, regardless of how careful teams are in limiting workloads and/or contact.
