Rex Ryan thinks ‘big ol’ rascal’ LeBron James could play tight end for the Bills

If LeBron wants to step away from the NBA, Rex Ryan has a roster spot for him in Buffalo.

Rex Ryan refused to comment on whether he thinks the Golden State Warriors or the Cleveland Cavaliers will win the NBA Finals, but he had plenty to say on the topic of LeBron James playing tight end in the NFL.

“That big ol’ rascal can come play tight end for us if he wants to,” Ryan said.

At 6’8 and 250 pounds, James would certainly be a formidable physical presence on the field. Ryan thinks that, coupled with James’ athleticism, would give him an advantage on the gridiron.

“You look at him, he’s physical ... look at the range -- there’s no way you can cover him,” Ryan said. “Fast, physical, we’ll give it a shot.”

If there's one thing that might deter James from considering taking the field at tight end for the Buffalo Bills, it's probably the paycheck.

“I think it’d work out well,” Ryan said. “I don’t know if he’d quite make that money that he’s making now. Might have to take a step back.”

So James definitely has a landing spot in the NFL, and he would have some Cavs fans welcoming him to the locker room in Buffalo, most notably quarterback Cardale Jones and linebacker Preston Brown.

Brown, who hails from Cincinnati, grew up supporting the Cavs because they’re the only NBA team in the state. He still believes the Cavs can take this series.

“You gotta win four. It’s been done,” Brown said. “Definitely, I think four straight. They just like to mess with people.”

The Finals aren’t exactly going well for James. Game 3 will be played Wednesday night at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, and depending on how it goes, perhaps trying his hand at a different sport might be appealing.
