The Los Angeles Rams don’t have their own stadium just yet, but the team will play its first NFL game since moving on from St. Louis on Saturday against the Dallas Cowboys. It’s a preseason game, so that takes away some of the allure, but the return to LA will still be of interest to many. lt is also the first time both teams will get a look at their rosters in a game situation in many months.
Cowboys vs. Rams 2016: Time, TV schedule and team news for Los Angeles’ preseason opener
On Saturday, the Rams and Cowboys will play the first NFL game at the Coliseum in over two decades.

Saturday’s game will be broadcast nationally by ESPN, beginning at 8 p.m. ET, with a live stream available via WatchESPN.
This matchup doesn’t just get the spotlight because NFL football will be played in the Coliseum for the first time in more than two decade. There’s also top overall draft pick Jared Goff, who will make his professional debut.
The Rams gave up a ton of picks to move up to No. 1 overall and select Goff, yet Rams coach Jeff Fisher has been adamant that Case Keenum, who will start Saturday, is the team’s No.1 quarterback. The Rams insist they do not plan on simply handing Goff the job despite everything they invested in him.
But Goff is still expected to take plenty of snaps against the Cowboys. How long he’ll play and which starters he’ll be going up against on defense is totally up in the air, though. No matter what, it’ll give the Rams a chance to see Goff perform in a real football setting. It’s unclear if he can earn the job right away with a strong preseason, but he can still become the team’s starter at some point during his rookie season.
The Cowboys are also dealing with quarterback questions, even though Tony Romo is firmly entrenched as the starter. It’s what happens at backup quarterback that is everyone is waiting to see unfold.
Romo has had injury issues the past few seasons and the Cowboys haven’t been able to find a consistetn backup for him. With Kellen Moore likely out for the year, who is behind Romo is a big concern. For now, Dak Prescott and Jameill Showers are the two names to watch on Saturday.
The Cowboys are playing in an NFC East division that seems like it’s completely up for grabs. Head coach Jason Garrett has neglected to elaborate on how long his starters might play, but it’s unlikely that one presumed starter, running back Ezekiel Elliott, will be out on the field. The rookie has been dealing with a sore hamstring and the Cowboys don’t want to risk their first-round pick making the injury any worse.
