Giants vs. Jets 2016 live stream: Game time, TV schedule and how to watch NFL preseason online

Victor Cruz is set to make his return to the field for the New York Giants (0-2) when they take on the Jets (1-1) on Saturday. It will be the wide receiver’s first appearance since tearing his patellar tendon in October 2014. Cruz missed the entire 2015 season with a calf injury, and just completed his first full practice on Tuesday. He’s been welcomed by the wide receiver who’s taken over in his absence.

“I was running a route deep, and I looked back to see where the ball went and it went to 80 (Cruz),” Odell Beckham told Giants.com. “It was one-high coverage and it went to 80 and I see him take off. At first you see it and I was like, ‘I’m about to get this one.’ Then the ball went somewhere else and I saw him catch it, turn up field and burst. It’s great to see Vic back out there. He’s been through quite a lot.”

For the Jets, attention will turn to the quarterback spot, specifically whether 2015 fourth-round pick Bryce Petty gets any run in the team’s third preseason game, just a week before final roster cuts are to be made. Like most starters around the league, Ryan Fitzpatrick will be on the field more in the third week of the preseason. The previous week, he completed 4 of 9 throws for 35 yards before letting Geno Smith and Petty take over.

According to coach Todd Bowles, Smith is still the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart, but Petty was impressive last week. He has also had more snaps than any other quarterback so far, completing 23 of 40 passes for 335 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

It’s unclear if the Jets would be willing to keep all four of their quarterbacks, including their second-round pick from this year’s draft, Christian Hackenberg. The rookie has a high ceiling, but he’s very raw and won’t be playing in a regular season game any time soon.

Even though it’s the preseason, a clash between the hometown teams is always entertaining. The Giants and Jets have a good local rivalry, and the games between the two in the exhibition season carry more weight and meaning for the players themselves and the fans than preseason games normally would.

Six years ago, Cruz had one of his breakout performances as a rookie in a preseason game against the Jets. Now he’ll try to get his career back on track with a big showing in the dress rehearsal game.

Saturday’s game is set to get underway at 7:30 p.m. ET. It will not be broadcast nationally, but it will be available via streaming on NFL Game Pass, like the rest of the preseason. Here’s all you need to know to watch the games.
