The preseason is widely panned for lacking excitement, and the NFL Hall of Fame Game means even less in the grand scope of things, but it does represent the first time the fans get to see actual football being played in a long time. While the NFL has done everything it can to stretch out the events in the offseason and build them up, nothing compares to actual football.
Packers vs. Colts 2016: Time, TV schedule for NFL Hall of Fame Game
Football is almost back, though Sunday night’s game in Canton was canceled.

Said football would come in the form of a game between the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Field in Canton, Ohio, but the ESPN contest was instead canceled due to poor field conditions.
The game was to celebrate the Class of 2016 for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which features Brett Favre, a legendary Packers quarterback, and Tony Dungy, a Super Bowl-winning coach with the Colts. It also features Marvin Harrison, a Colts receiver who earned a Super Bowl ring catching passes from Peyton Manning. An enshrinement ceremony took place for all inductees on Saturday evening.
Had the game been played, it was unclear which starters would have played, if any. One shouldn’t expect to see Aaron Rodgers dueling Andrew Luck for any real length of time, especially after Jordy Nelson tore his ACL during the preseason last year. The different weeks of the preseason have varying degrees of importance, with most suggesting the third week is the most important, and typically sees starters playing the most.
Which means the Hall of Fame Game -- a fifth preseason game for both the Packers and the Colts -- essentially would have been the least important game either team could play. But it’s a good opportunity for fringe roster candidates to try and prove they deserve a spot. For now, they will have to wait until next week.
