Eagles vs. Bears 2016, ‘Monday Night Football’: How to watch online

The Philadelphia Eagles made a big investment in their starting quarterback, and after a solid NFL debut at home, Carson Wentz will take his show on the road to face the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Monday night. The game will be televised on ESPN as always, and viewers can stream it online at WatchESPN. Verizon customers can also access the game via the NFL’s official app.

After trading up to draft Wentz No. 2 overall in this year’s draft, the Eagles initially planned to sit him behind Sam Bradford. However, they had a change of heart after the preseason and traded Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings, handing the reins over to the North Dakota State rookie despite missing most of the preseason with a rib injury.

It was a big gamble, but the early returns have been promising. Wentz looked like he belonged in Week 1, throwing for 278 yards and two touchdowns on 22-of-37 passing against the Cleveland Browns. More importantly, he avoided turnovers and looked comfortable in the pocket, showing impressive accuracy on his touchdown passes to Jordan Matthews and Nelson Agholor. Wentz will likely take his lumps this season, but the Eagles have to be happy with his performance. One big concern will be the loss of tight end Zach Ertz, who’s expected to miss multiple games with a severe rib injury.

Wentz figures to have another solid day against a Bears defense that let the game slip away last week. Brock Osweiler recovered from a shaky start and led the Houston Texans to a 23-14 victory. Chicago also had problems on offense -- Jay Cutler completed just six passes in the second half, and threw an interception when receiver Kevin White (essentially a rookie after missing all of 2015 with an injury) ran the wrong route.

The Bears have enough talent on paper to stay competitive this year, but they still struggle with unforced errors and missed a good opportunity to start the season 1-0. If they can’t hold serve at home this week, their playoff hopes will take a significant hit with an 0-2 start.
