The Jacksonville Jaguars entered the 2016 season as a trendy dark horse pick to make the playoffs, but an 0-2 start is not what they had in mind. They’ll try to get into the win column when they welcome the 2-0 Baltimore Ravens to EverBank Field.

It’s still early, but the Jaguars’ season is already threatening to spin out of control.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET in Jacksonville and will air on CBS.
Jacksonville went on the road in Week 2, hoping to recover from a tough season-opening loss to the Green Bay Packers. However, the San Diego Chargers pummeled the Jags in a 38-14 rout, which wasn’t even as close as the scoreboard looks. Despite losing Keenan Allen and Danny Woodhead, Philip Rivers did what he wanted to against the Jaguars’ defense, throwing four touchdowns and 220 yards on 17-of-24 passing.
Jacksonville’s offense never got going outside of garbage time -- Allen Robinson was held to just three catches for 54 yards, while the running game was nonexistent with T.J. Yeldon rushing seven times for only 28 yards. The good news is that Chris Ivory could be on his way back. After missing the first two weeks with a health scare that put him in the hospital, Ivory returned to practice this week and could suit up on Sunday.
The Ravens have looked less than sharp to start the year, but they won’t be complaining about their 2-0 start, especially after a wild Week 2 comeback to beat the Cleveland Browns. The Browns jumped out to a 20-0 lead, but in classic Browns fashion, everything unraveled. Baltimore got on the scoreboard by taking a blocked extra point back for a two-point conversion, Josh McCown hurt his shoulder and couldn’t do anything the rest of the game, and Baltimore escaped with the 25-20 win.
Joe Flacco continues to look just fine coming off his ACL injury, and he is quickly establishing a rapport with new deep threat Mike Wallace, who has three touchdowns in the first two games. Tight end Dennis Pitta has also made an impressive comeback from two major hip injuries, leading the team in targets (12), catches (nine), and yards (102) last week. If there’s one area that needs improvement, it’s in the running game. Justin Forsett and Terrance West combined for just 79 yards on 25 carries last week, averaging just over 3 yards per carry. They’ll need more production from the backfield to really unlock this offense’s potential.
Baltimore has some things to work on if it hopes to return to the playoffs, but the Ravens are off to a promising start in a competitive AFC North. The Jaguars, meanwhile, have a lot of questions that need answering. Their potential dream season could quickly turn into a nightmare if they start off 0-3, which would all but doom their chances of making the postseason.
With both teams having something to prove (and one desperate to right the ship early on in its campaign), this game should have a strong sense of urgency to it, making for an intriguing matchup that shouldn’t be missed.
